Prof. Dr. Edibe SOZEN

Edibe Sozen received her bachelor’s degree from Marmara University Department of International Relations in 1982, her master’s degree and doctorate from Istanbul University, Faculty of Economics in 1985. She worked at Istanbul University Faculty of Communication as a full time academic member between the years of 1985 and 2006. She was invited to be a “Visiting Scholar” at the University of Wisconsin Department of “Communication Arts” from 1991 to 1993; she completed her postdoctoral degree. She studied on younger generations and women between the years of 1994 and 2000 in Western European countries, notably at Germany and Netherlands; she served in Anatolian Agency Board of Directors in 2003-2006; around the same time she was in the ‘Neutrals’ group of Press Announcement Agency. She became a member of the parliament from AKP 23rdPeriod Istanbul I. Region. She served as a member of the TBMM Human Rights Investigation Commission and NATO Parliamentary Assembly Commission. She served as a General Vice President at the AKP Media and Publicity Agency from 2006 to 2009. She worked at AKP Centre Resolution and Administrative Committee between the years of 2006 and 2017. She worked as a consultant at TEPAV (Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey) in 2011-2012. She started the office as full time in 2012 at Hasan Kalyoncu University; she held the office of Assistant to Rector and Vice Rector. Sozen, who carries on her duties as the Dean of Faculty of Communication and Deputy Rector, was appointed to the membership of Presidential Social Policies Council in 2018.
