Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Department of Psychology organized the Psychology Agenda-10 HKÜ, which is organized every year and became a brand, was held at Congress and Culture Center.
The theme of the Ninth Psychological Agenda, hosted by the HKU, was “Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy-Children, Adolescents and Adults” this year. With the participant profile, the great number of participants and satisfying scientific content, the “Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy-Children, Adolescents and Adults”, were discussed in every aspect by experts in the field.
“Every Science Branch has an aim to make human life more livable”
HKU Rector, Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz, who made the opening speech of the program, which started with stand in silence and National Anthem, said that “”Hasan Kalyoncu University is an innovative university that aims to contribute to the world of science. One of these innovations is the Psychological Agenda that is organized every year at our university. The Psychological Agendas provide an environment in which specialist scientists, practitioners, students and people with the desire to create and share their ideas experiences. Every discipline has a purpose to make human life more livable. Psychology is also a discipline that seeks a solution to the question of how a better life can be, both individually and socially”
“Universities have Great Responsibilities”
Yılmaz who underlined that the universities have three basic tasks; providing education, researching and serving the community, added that: “In recent years, the importance of university-community cooperation has begun to be understood gradually. Positive results of inter-institutional co-ordination have begun to be seen when a theory and practice are combined with a multidisciplinary approach to solve social problems. Psychotherapy and counseling services have become crucial in the chaotic and ever-changing circumstances of today’s world, in order to develop individuals with healthy mental development in the community, family structures and, consequently, healthy child development. At the point of giving these services that are needed, universities have great duties. Today at this symposium, competent academics and researchers in the field will share their knowledge and experience with you. We will, of course, listen carefully to the presentations of our precious academicians and benefit from these presentations “.
Continuation of the program, the presentations on these subject were made; the Head of HKU Department of Psychology, Prof. Dr. M. Hakan Türkçapar; “Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy in Social Phobia”, Prof. Dr. Emine Gül Kapçıseyitoğlu “Posttraumatic stress disorder and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy in children and adolescents”, Prof. Dr. Levet Sütçügil,”Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy in Eating Disorders”, Assoc. Prof. Kadir Özdel, “Endless Problem of Learning Process: Exam Anxiety with a Cognitive Behavioral Perspective”.
In the organization of the Psychology Agenda-10, where specialist researchers and academicians in the field evaluate “Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy-Children, Adolescents and Adults” in every aspect, certificate of appreciation were given. The program came to an end with souvenir photographs and certificate of participation given to the participants.
