The First Graduates of the First Headmen Academy in Turkey

Headmen Academy Graduation Ceremony held with the collaboration of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and Hasan Kalyoncu University hosted Prof. Nabi Avcı, the Minister of Education, in the Congress and Convention Center in HKU.
HKU was excited to have the first graduates from the first Headmen Academy.
In his opening Speech, Tamer Yılmaz, Rector, stated “Dear Headmen, you are the ones who try to do their best to help the public with a strong commitment. To experience a university environment is one of the unforgettable moments in life. You have strong bonds of friendship here. We are here to honour the achievement of our 338 headmen. There are a lot of things that we can learn from your experiences. However, you came here accepting that you are not happy with what you already know. You knew that ‘Assuming that you know everything is the worst enemy to learning.’”
As a graduate from the Headmen Academy, do not lose your faith in your university, country and future.
We have produced a lot of projects such as Child University, Mother University, Craftsmen University, Industry University, SME University, Entrepreneurship University and Development University granting about 2000 people their certificates in 3 years. First of all, I would like to thank our minister for honouring us with his visit, and then thank all who contributed to this occasion and, of course, thank all our guests.
In her opening speech, Fatma Şahin, Mayor, stated “Progress starts in local areas like neighbourhood, districts and cities. I have never seen you appear for your personal stuff in my 15-year-political career. You are the ones to deal with our people at the first place. Life is a school and there is no age to learn. We have to improve ourselves to keep up with this technology age.”
Prof. Nabi Avcı, Minister of Education, said “I congratulate HKU and the Municipality on organizing such a project. I believe our headmen will get the chance to put what they have learnt into practice. I hope this project will set an example for other institutions.”
The training sessions included “Techniques for Official Correspondence”, “Skills for Personal Communication”, “Public Health”, “Dispute and Mediation”, “Human Rights”, “Public Administration”, “Leadership and Entrepreneurship” and “Basic Computer Training” and it lasted 2 months.
Headmen in their gowns received their certificates from Nabi Avcı, Minister of Education. They enthusiastically threw their caps in front of the rectorate building. It was stated that HKU would go on participating such social responsibility projects.
