At Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), academics who made the greatest contribution to the university’s academic performance in 2021 were honoured.
At the ceremony, where a total of 215 awards were presented, HKU Board of Trustees Chair Cemal Kalyoncu addressed academics and students, saying that they will celebrate HKU’s 15th anniversary in the centenary year of the Republic.
The “Academy Awards Ceremony,” at which awards and certificates of achievement were presented to academics promoted at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) and to those who contributed the most to the university in 2021, was held with the participation of HKU Board of Trustees Chair Cemal Kalyoncu.
Speaking at the ceremony, HKU Board of Trustees Chair Cemal Kalyoncu said: “With nearly 15,000 graduates, close to 8,000 students and well-equipped academic and administrative staff, Hasan Kalyoncu University, a strong family, has been making a difference with its academic knowledge and professional expertise from the very first day. With the world’s 298th greenest campus, a scholarship rate above 50 percent placing it among the top 10 universities providing the most scholarships, and ranking among the top 10 universities whose graduates are employed the fastest, Hasan Kalyoncu University is among the universities that satisfy their students the most thanks to its student-focused approach. Last year, our university further reinforced this success by ranking 8th among foundation universities in the ‘Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index’ led by TUBITAK. The scientific publications of our academics in respected international journals and the citations to them increased by 50 percent and 100 percent, respectively, last year.”
Speaking at the opening, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said: “Since its establishment, Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), as a cradle of science with an entrepreneurial and innovative vision, has always supported scientific and R&D work that adds value to its people, country, the world and all humanity, and of course the scientists who work with all their might in this process. The valuable scientific work you have produced, the works you have created, the articles you have written, the citations you have received, the projects you have carried out and the patents you have registered have brought our university to a respected position in the higher education ecosystem. As our ancestors said, ‘merit is subject to compliment’! Your achievements are our university’s achievements and undoubtedly the strongest motivation for the new work we will undertake.”
Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, meanwhile, congratulated the academics who contributed to science and technology with their scientific research and international publications.
The ceremony was attended by HKU Board of Trustees Chair Cemal Kalyoncu, Gaziantep Governor Davut Gül, HKU Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees Haluk Kalyoncu, Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, members of the protocol, academics, students and many members of the press.
ACADEMICS HONOURED
The faculty members who contributed the most to the academic performance of Hasan Kalyoncu University with their scientific work experienced the excitement of the awards at the ceremony. In this context, awards were presented to academics with the most publications in respected indexed journals, the most citations in respected indexed journals, accepted TUBITAK project applications, registered national/international patents, the highest academic incentive scores and those who received academic promotions.
