The “Strategic Research and Performance Analysis Seminar,” organized at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) to raise awareness on measuring academic performance and managing strategic research, was held with strong participation.

The seminar held at the HKU Cine Amphitheater was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Turkay Dereli, HKU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lutfi Yola, Dr. Hasan Selcuk Selek, Vice President of the Technology and Innovation Funding Programs Directorate (TEYDEB) of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK), HKU Scientific Publication Evaluation Commission Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Araci, faculty deans, academics, and administrative staff.

Delivering the opening speech of the seminar, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Turkay Dereli said: “As Hasan Kalyoncu University, we are increasing our research capacity year by year and managing our academic performance strategically. The work we have carried out within this scope has begun to lift our university to the upper ranks of national and international indices. Indeed, the increase in TUBITAK-supported projects and the visibility of our publications in international citation indices are tangible indicators of this success. We believe that by effectively using advanced analytical tools such as SciVal, we will carry this success even further.”

HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Turkay Dereli also highlighted that, according to the 2024 Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index results announced by TUBITAK, Hasan Kalyoncu University achieved a notable success by ranking 28th among all universities in Turkey and 8th among foundation universities. He extended his thanks to Vice Rector for R&D Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lutfi Yola, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Araci, Director of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Office Cengiz Helvacikara, Project Specialist Lect. Turgut Songur, and all academics who contributed to this achievement.

HKU Scientific Publication Evaluation Commission Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Araci stated that they place great importance on such training programs in order to enhance Hasan Kalyoncu University’s scientific productivity and to manage research performance more efficiently. Emphasizing that tools such as SciVal offer strategic contributions to academic development, Araci noted that such activities will continue.

Within the scope of the seminar, Saide Sak, Education Consultant at Elsevier Turkey, delivered a comprehensive training session on SciVal, the international academic performance measurement tool. The training covered topics such as the evaluation of research outputs, analysis of collaborations, enhancement of the university’s scientific visibility, and how SciVal data can be used in strategic planning.
