
Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) has agreed to carry out joint scientific activities with Mara Technology University, which is Malaysia’s largest public university with its 35 campuses. Within the scope of the agreement, between the two universities; it is aimed to jointly implement innovative scientific and technological projects, especially education-training, research-development and student/staff mobility.
Agreement Signed Between HKU and UiTM
A protocol was signed between the two universities at the ceremony held online, hosted by Mara University of Technology. At the signing ceremony; Mara University of Technology Rector Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ilham bin Adenan was accompanied by the vice-chancellors; on the HKU side, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hanifi Çanakçı, Director of Graduate Education Institute Prof. Dr. İbrahim Halil Güzelbey and Head of Computer Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Fatih Hasoğlu, took part together with Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli.
International Collaboration is a Requirement for Sustainability
The changing structure and internationalization of higher education are among the subjects followed and given importance by HKU, stated by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli. “International collaboration agreements and quantitative and qualitative increase in international student mobility are among the primary objectives of the higher education ecosystem. At this point, the enhancement in recent years is remarkable. HKU, one of the leading foundation universities in Turkey, prioritizes internationalization in line with its strategic goals and cooperates with the world’s reputable universities within this framework. International collaborations and projects are extremely significant for the sustainability of universities. The steps taken with this vision in recent years have further increased the visibility of HKU in the international level and made it an institution where international cooperation is desired. In order to combat epidemics, global economic problems and similar problems, the need to improve the knowledge and technology capacity through international cooperation is inevitable. The sustainability of the higher education ecosystem will only be possible with the added value created by these collaborations. HKU is a university that is always open and willing to international cooperation. In this context, we are very delighted to cooperate with Malaysia’s Mara University of Technology. The cooperation of these two institutions will set a good example for the development of science and technology and the internationalization of higher education. I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Atilla Elçi, Faculty Member of the Department of Software Engineering at HKU, and İhsan Kuyumcu, Coordinator of the International Relations, who contributed to the establishment of the infrastructure of the collaboration, and wish the agreement to be beneficial,” said Prof. Dr. Dereli.
Making the opening speech of the ceremony, Mara Technology University Rector Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ilham bin Adenan stated that they are working especially for international technology transfer and knowledge sharing and the entrepreneurship is one of their core focus areas and finally expressed his satisfaction for this collaboration with Hasan Kalyoncu University. It was noted that the signed agreement will be valid for 3 years and can be extended if needed.
