
The Women and Family Practice and Research Center (KADMER) at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKÜ) organized the ‘2nd Inspiring Women’s Gathering’ in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, focusing on the success stories of entrepreneurial women in the business world.
The program, held at the HKÜ Law Amphitheater, began with the screening of a video titled ‘Kadın Demek’ prepared by the Presidency of Communication, followed by a digital exhibition titled ‘Women Leaving Their Mark from Past to Present,’ coordinated by Dr. Batu Duru, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Digital Game Design at the Faculty of Communication.
The event was attended by HKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, Director of KADMER Dr. Zeynep Özgüner, Associate Professor Atiye Güner from the Department of Visual Communication Design at the Faculty of Communication, along with students, guest speakers including Prof. Dr. Kezban Bayramlar, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Feyza Doyran, Chair of the Department of English Language Teaching at the Faculty of Education, Yelda Kına, Responsible Officer at Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Art and Vocational Training Courses (GASMEK), and Entrepreneur Businesswoman Ebru Öcal.
Speaking at the opening of the program, HKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli extended his wishes for International Women’s Day to all women worldwide, emphasizing the crucial roles women play as the backbone of family life, carriers of education and culture, and pioneers in science and arts. He stressed HKÜ’s belief in universal values of science, access to knowledge, and education, striving to empower women in science and arts to strengthen their roles in society.
Dr. Zeynep Özgüner, Director of KADMER, highlighted the influential role of women in guiding, informing, and protecting society, emphasizing that March 8th serves as a reminder of this responsibility.
Following the opening speeches, a panel titled ‘Career Stories from Successful Women,’ moderated by Dr. Atiye Güner, Associate Professor at the Department of Visual Communication Design, featured speakers sharing their experiences of overcoming challenges, determination, and career journeys as women in society.
As part of the International Women’s Day program, special treats prepared by the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at the Faculty of Tourism were offered to participants. Additionally, a mini-concert by the HKÜ Music Student Community, a film screening by the HKÜ Media Student Community, and workshops on jewelry design, calligraphy, weaving, and leather crafting led by instructors from GASMEK were organized. At the end of the program, participants were presented with lapel pins and keychains as mementos of the day.
