Organized by the Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKÜ) Digital Game Design Community and the Digital Game Design Department during the month of Ramadan, the Game Jam event “Ramajam”—a hackathon-style competition in the field of game development—was held with the participation of 65 game developers.
After a three-day training session, on March 7, Turkey’s first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı, announced the theme of Ramajam as “Space.” Game developers had the opportunity to bring their games to life at HKÜ’s Digital Game Laboratory (DijiLab), one of Turkey’s first and most ambitious digital game laboratories, with the support of technical infrastructure and academic guidance. The event, which featured 18 teams, concluded on March 14 with a closing and award ceremony attended by HKÜ Board of Trustees Chairman Haluk Kalyoncu.
Speaking at the ceremony, Haluk Kalyoncu stated, “The gaming industry is growing rapidly on a global scale. As HKÜ, we will do our part to enhance Turkey’s potential in this field and support young talents.”
HKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli also commented, “Ramajam serves as a bridge between academia and the industry, providing support to game developers. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the organization.
After the speeches, awards were presented in four categories. The “Best Teamwork” award went to the Gumball team, the “Best Design” award was won by the B2 team, the “Best Story” award was given to the Unreal Vadisi Konseyi team, and the “Best Game” award was awarded to The Developer team.
