  • In order to transfer from open and distance education to formal education programmes, the student’s grade point average in the current programme must be 80 or above out of 100, or the central placement score in the year of enrolment must be equal to or higher than that year’s base score of the degree programme of the university to which the student wishes to transfer.
  • Higher education institutions located outside the borders of the Republic of Türkiye will be considered higher education institutions abroad.

INTER-INSTITUTIONAL LATERAL TRANSFER

  • Lateral transfers to our University are made from equivalent degree programmes at the same level in other higher education institutions.
  • For lateral transfer to our University, the student’s grade point average for the semesters completed in the enrolled degree programme must be at least 60 out of 100 (2.29 out of 4).
  • Candidates who cannot meet the achievement requirement in the second paragraph but whose central placement score is equal to or higher than the base score of the degree programme they wish to transfer to may also apply for lateral transfer.
  • The inter-institutional lateral transfer evaluation results, with the names of all candidates with valid applications ranked according to the scores used in the evaluation, are announced on our University’s website.

The applications of candidates applying in this way are considered if vacant quota remains after the placement of candidates applying under the second paragraph.
  • In lateral transfers from higher education institutions abroad, students who hold the base score for admission to the relevant year of the degree programme at our University to which they wish to transfer may apply for lateral transfer without any achievement requirement for the courses they have taken abroad. The lateral transfer applications of students applying in this way are evaluated outside the scope of the lateral transfer quota for institutions abroad.
  • In applications from universities abroad, it is required that the higher education institution and programme where the student studied abroad be recognised by the Council of Higher Education as an institution authorised to award associate or undergraduate degrees, and that the relevant unit accept the equivalence of the enrolled degree programme to the associate or undergraduate degree programme at our University to which the student is applying for lateral transfer.
  • The minimum scores in the Student Selection and Placement Examinations conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre, together with the exams and scores accepted as equivalent to them, to be used in evaluating the transfer applications of students who began higher education abroad to higher education programmes in Türkiye are specified below.
  • The minimum scores in the Student Selection and Placement Examinations conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre, together with the exams and scores accepted as equivalent to them, to be used in evaluating the transfer applications of students who began higher education abroad to higher education programmes in Türkiye are announced by the Council of Higher Education together with the lateral transfer quotas for students from abroad determined by the universities. In calculating 15 per cent, numbers below 1 are rounded up to 1. If the part after the decimal point is less than 5, the number is rounded down to the lower whole number; if it is 5 or above, it is rounded up to the next whole number.

Intra-University Lateral Transfer Between Programmes

Students will be admitted to our University for the Fall Semester of the 2022-2023 Academic Year to the Associate and Undergraduate Programmes by lateral transfer in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer between Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programmes, Double Major, Minor and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer in Higher Education Institutions”.

 DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATION

Applications will be made online. The requested documents must be scanned and uploaded to the system.

  • Current certified transcript of records
  • Current certified curriculum and course contents
  • Current document stating that you have not received a disciplinary penalty
  • ÖSYM exam result document for the year the exam was taken

( Note: ” This document is mandatory for the Departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Political Science and International Relations, International Trade and Logistics, and English Language Teaching! “)

GENERAL PRINCIPLES

  • Lateral transfer can be made, within the quotas set by the relevant board, to equivalent-level degree programmes within a faculty, college, conservatoire or vocational school itself, or within another faculty, college, conservatoire or vocational school of the same university.
  • The semesters and degree programmes for which an intra-university lateral transfer quota will be set are decided by the relevant boards, starting from the second semester and up to and including the fifth semester for each degree programme, in such a way that for each year in which a quota is announced it does not exceed fifteen per cent of the student quota stipulated in the ÖSYM Guide. Students studying under a scholarship quota in a programme of a foundation university are deemed to have waived their scholarship when they make a lateral transfer. In determining the intra-university transfer quota of higher education institutions that apply transfer to a degree programme after a common programme, the quotas set by the senate for these degree programmes are taken as the basis.
  • The transfer of candidates placed in a common programme with one score type to degree programmes within the same higher education institution that admit students with a different score type is carried out in accordance with the intra-institutional lateral transfer provisions of this Regulation.
  • In order to apply for lateral transfer between degree programmes within the university that are at the same level but admit students with different central placement score types, the central placement score the student obtained in the score type valid for the target degree programme as of the year the student took the central exam must not be lower than the lowest base score of the equivalent degree programmes at other universities in Türkiye.
  • For intra-university lateral transfer at our University, the grade point average (2.50 out of 4) for the semesters the student has completed in the enrolled degree programme is determined by the senate.
  • Primary and reserve candidates are determined by the senate in line with the announced quota. Registration applications are accepted from reserve candidates in place of primary candidates who do not come to register within the registration dates set in the calendar.

Evaluation of Applications

  • Applications will be evaluated by the boards of the relevant units.
  • Accepted applications will be announced at www.hku.edu.tr.
