The “4th Inspiring Women Meeting”, in which the business success stories of women entrepreneurs were discussed, was organised by the Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) Women and Family Application and Research Centre (KADMER) on the occasion of 8 March International Women’s Day.
The programme was attended by HKU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, KADMER Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Özgüner, academic staff and students, and, as invited speakers, Ufuk Ekinci, Chair of the Board of the Association for Supporting Women Entrepreneurs (GİKAD), Eda Coşan, Financial Advisor and Board Member of Coşan Yapı, and Nihal Sabak, General Coordinator of the Women Entrepreneurs Support Centre.
HKU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, who spoke at the opening of the programme and began by celebrating 8 March International Women’s Day for women all over the world, said: “As Hasan Kalyoncu University, we value work that supports women’s stronger presence in education, academia and entrepreneurship. Through the activities carried out via KADMER, we continue to contribute both to raising social awareness and to the empowerment of women. In addition, in line with our university’s vision of social contribution and entrepreneurship, we have also carried out the first phase of the ‘Entrepreneurship Training for Women’ programme, organised for the members of the Association for Supporting Women Entrepreneurs within the scope of the Silk Road Gaziantep ‘Digital Design and Application’ Social Entrepreneurship Centre Project, which operates within our Faculty of Communication in cooperation with KADMER. With this programme, we aim to strengthen the knowledge and skills of our women entrepreneurs and to support them in building stronger links with the entrepreneurship ecosystem.”
KADMER Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Özgüner said: “Today we celebrate not just a day on the calendar, but the brave hearts that each write their own story, the hands that soften the world with compassion, and the minds that light up tomorrow with their ideas. Happy day to all women who draw their strength from the light within, who set no limits to their dreams, and who manage to blossom in every season.”
After the opening speeches, in a session moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Özgüner, the speakers, within the theme of “Recycling”, shared their success stories by talking about what can be done in Gaziantep through zero waste and recycling, as well as the difficulties they face in society as women, the processes of overcoming these obstacles, their determination, and their experiences of their career journeys.
At the end of the programme, handmade gifts were presented to the participants in commemoration of the day.
