About Residence Permits
for International Students
On 15 November 2023, the “Cooperation Protocol on Residence Permit Applications of International Students” was signed between the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and the Presidency of Migration Management of the Ministry of Interior, with the aim of updating the visa and residence permit procedures and processes for international students. As of 20 February 2024, the application documents required for the residence permits of foreign students within the scope of the protocol will be prepared by universities.
The protocol entered into force on 29 November 2023. International students who were enrolled before this date and whose studies have been interrupted because of a residence violation although they remain students must complete the documents required for their residence procedures and submit them to the Student Affairs Office. The documents required for the residence permit will be sent to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
