At Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), the academics who contributed most to the university’s academic performance in 2023 were rewarded.
The “Academic Award Ceremony”, at which awards and certificates of achievement were presented to the academics who were promoted at HKU and who also contributed most to the university in 2023, and at which a total of 241 awards were given, was held with the participation of Haluk Kalyoncu, Chair of the HKU Board of Trustees.
In his speech at the ceremony, Haluk Kalyoncu, Chair of the HKU Board of Trustees, said: “Every year our university carries out exemplary projects in many fields, from sport to the arts and from health to technology. Our faculty members, who also closely follow global and regional developments, comment on the agenda on various platforms with realistic and scientific analyses of the developments in our region, and thus shed light on society’s need for information. As our Board of Trustees, our most fundamental expectation of you, our esteemed academics, is that you closely follow international higher education curricula and their updates, research continuously renewed digital learning and new scientific approaches, constantly keep up with education systems whose rate of change is accelerating, and ensure that these new curricula are reflected in our education system and delivered to our students. I would like to express my gratitude, in your presence, to everyone who has contributed to our university reaching today, and above all to Cemal Kalyoncu, Chair of our Board of Trustees, who has not withheld his material and moral support from our university since the first day.”
Speaking at the opening, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said: “Since its foundation, the main aim of our university has been to educate individuals who have a high level of academic knowledge and professional competence, a sense of national unity and loyalty to their values, and to contribute to shaping the future of our country. In 2023, according to the Türkiye University Satisfaction Survey rankings, our university rose to 8th place in the “overall satisfaction” ranking among 200 universities in Türkiye. It also ranks 3rd among the 74 foundation universities in Türkiye. In the field of Campus and Quality of Life, it received the “A+ university” grade for meeting students’ expectations at the highest level. At the same time, according to the results of the “2024 World University Impact Rankings” announced by Times Higher Education, in the “Good Health and Well-being” category of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, our University ranked in the 1001+ band worldwide, 26th among foundation universities in Türkiye and 74th among all universities. For the last two years, our campus has also been listed by GreenMetric among the top 250 greenest campuses in the world in the Green Campus ranking,” he said.
ACADEMICS WERE REWARDED
The academic staff who contributed most to the academic performance of Hasan Kalyoncu University through their scientific work experienced the excitement of receiving awards at the ceremony. In this context, awards were presented to academics who were included in the “World’s Most Influential Scientists” list prepared by Stanford University, who had the highest academic incentive scores, who published the most in reputable indexed journals, who received the most citations in reputable indexed journals, whose TÜBİTAK project applications were accepted, who had nationally/internationally registered patents, whose academic titles were upgraded, and who took part in the Times Higher Education (THE), UI GreenMetric Green Campus and Nutrition and Physical Activity Friendly working groups and in the departments accredited in 2024.
