At Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), academics who contributed most to the university’s academic performance in the 2024-2025 academic year were rewarded.
The “Academic Awards Ceremony”, at which awards and certificates of achievement were presented to academics who were promoted at HKU and who contributed most to the university in 2024, with a total of 185 awards given, took place with the participation of HKU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Haluk Kalyoncu.
In his speech at the ceremony, HKU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Haluk Kalyoncu said: “As Hasan Kalyoncu University, our priorities are to keep quality education, innovation and a student-centred approach to education at the forefront. The direct involvement of our students in our social, cultural, sports and arts activities that place social responsibility at the centre, our increasing number of scientific publications in recent years, our national and international research projects, our collaborations with industry and the public sector, and our entrepreneurship and R&D-focused work are concrete indicators of our student-centred approach to education. According to the results of the 2025 Türkiye University Satisfaction Survey, our university ranks 5th across Türkiye and 3rd among foundation universities, becoming an important reference point in student satisfaction. On behalf of our board of trustees, I extend my gratitude to our academics, students and research assistants who have achieved rankings in similar assessments, accomplished significant successes and represented our university successfully.”
Speaking at the opening, HKU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan said: “Since its establishment, the main goal of our university has been to educate individuals with strong academic knowledge and professional skills who value national and ethical values, and to contribute to shaping the future of our country. Our university continues its rapid rise in every field within the higher education ecosystem. In 2025, according to the Türkiye University Satisfaction Survey ranking, our university rose to 5th place in the “overall satisfaction” ranking among 208 universities in Türkiye. It also ranks 3rd among the 74 foundation universities in Türkiye. In the area of Campus and Life Satisfaction, it received the “A+ university” grade, meeting students’ expectations at the highest level. At the same time, it ranks 17th among foundation universities in Türkiye in the URAP ranking and 8th in the TÜBİTAK Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index. According to the GreenMetric 2025 ranking results, our campus has risen 174 places in the last 5 years, placing 201st worldwide, 23rd in Türkiye and 5th among foundation universities. Our university is also taking big steps in internationalisation. All of these successes are achieved by the administrative and academic staff of our university. I congratulate them all.”
ACADEMICS WERE REWARDED
Faculty members who made significant contributions to the academic performance of Hasan Kalyoncu University through their scientific work experienced the excitement of receiving awards at the ceremony. In this context, awards were presented to academics with the highest academic incentive scores, with the most publications and citations in reputable indexed journals, whose TÜBİTAK project applications were accepted, whose national and international patents were registered, whose Social Entrepreneurship, Empowerment and Cohesion Project (SEECO) was accepted, who established companies in Gaziantep OSB Technopark, who have visibility in the media, who contributed to internationalisation, who served on international juries, who carry out activities in art and design, who received academic title promotions, and who take part in working groups contributing to international rankings.
In addition, student societies whose projects were accepted under the Ministry of Youth and Sports University Student Societies Cooperation and Support Programme (ÜNİDES), the Viento UAV Team that won first place at TEKNOFEST, students who were awarded the “Most Localisable” honourable mention in the Aviation-Space category of the “Reaching and Accessing Türkiye 2053 Inter-University R&D Idea Competition” organised by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, a master’s student who contributed to strengthening Türkiye’s domestic and national capacity in defence, security and disaster management, and students who achieved success in cinema were also rewarded.
