At the seminar titled “Career Advice for Future Lawyers”, organised by the Faculty of Law at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), Kalyon Enerji Chief Legal and Compliance Counsel Attorney Bahar Selma Vicdan shared her experiences with students.
The programme, held at the HKU Law Lecture Hall, was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Dean of the HKU Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Enver Bozkurt, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law Asst. Prof. Dr. Veysel Görücü, academics and students.
Giving examples from her own career journey so that young lawyers taking their first steps in the profession can shape their careers effectively, and stressing that lawyers must be versatile, Kalyon Enerji Chief Legal and Compliance Counsel Attorney Bahar Selma Vicdan said: “I love what I do very much. I think being a lawyer adds a distinct vision to a person. I have always loved legal subjects, research and hard work. Law is a very honourable profession; please believe in that too, and always enjoy your work. Do not get stuck on clichés, because we are the ones who will improve ourselves, our country and our world.”
Attorney Bahar Selma Vicdan, who has served as Chief Legal and Compliance Counsel of Kalyon Enerji within Kalyon Holding since 2018, conveyed to the students in detail the experience she gained from her education in Turkey and abroad, the value of the profession, the importance of law, the opportunities it offers, and information about the company’s compliance counselling department.
At the end of the programme, Dean of the HKU Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Enver Bozkurt presented a plaque to Kalyon Enerji Chief Legal and Compliance Counsel Attorney Bahar Selma Vicdan.
