The ErasmusDays 2024 events, organised by Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) International Relations Office to promote Erasmus+, point out its benefits and encourage active student participation, began with an opening programme attended by Türkiye National Agency President İlker Astarcı.
The programme, held at the HKU Cine Amphitheatre and hosted by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, was attended by Türkiye National Agency President İlker Astarcı, Vice President Yunus Alper Altay and Higher Education Coordinator (Head of Department) Dr. Kemal Başcı, as well as HKU International Relations Office Coordinator İhsan Kuyumcu, HKU Technology Transfer Office Director Cengiz Helvacıkara and students.
In his speech, in which he gave information about the Agency’s activities, Türkiye National Agency President İlker Astarcı said: “We are the organisation that runs the Erasmus+ programme in Türkiye. Our fields are education and youth. In 2024 we have a budget of 150 million euros, and this budget is expected to rise to 200 million euros by 2027. Two thirds of these budgets are distributed as grants within the scope of projects. One third is used for the study and internship mobility abroad of university students. Every year we send a total of 60,000 people abroad for education, 20,000 of whom are university students. The Türkiye National Agency makes Türkiye’s domestic and national resources available, through European Union mechanisms, for the internationalisation of young people, students and researchers. We would like you to benefit from these opportunities, to become closely acquainted with international standards, and to do work that is useful for our country.”
HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said: “The Erasmus+ Programme offers our students not only study experience opportunities, but also the chance to interact with different cultures, build new friendships and see the world from a broader perspective. As HKU, we support the Erasmus+ Programme and develop projects so that more of our students can have this experience every year. In this context, we thank our entire team, who work with all their strength, the President of the Türkiye National Agency for their participation and support, and you, our dear students.”
Within the scope of the event, international student exchange opportunities were introduced, experience presentations and sharing sessions were held, and a quiz with prizes took place. The prizes were presented to the winners of the competition by Türkiye National Agency President İlker Astarcı.
