A workshop on the expressive power of music in cinema films and the differences it creates in perception was given to international students studying at Hasan Kalyoncu University by Dr. Benal Tanrısever, who has given concerts with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, at Beethoven Haus, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and in many other important halls and orchestras.
HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Vice-Rector, as well as academics and international students attended the programme held at the HKU Congress and Culture Centre.
At the event, Dr. Benal Tanrısever carried out visual and musical analyses of the films The Godfather (Baba) and Schindler’s List (Schindler’in Listesi), informing the students about the importance of tempo, sound, loudness, tone and the use of instruments in music and their effects in making a difference in films, and noted how important music is in storytelling, not merely pleasant sounds.
