At the seminar programme titled “Functioning of Regional Courts of Appeal”, organised by the Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) Faculty of Law, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeal Ali İrfan Yılmaz shared his experiences with students.
The programme, held at the HKU Law Amphitheatre, was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, HKU Board of Trustees Member Prof. Dr. Necip Fazıl Yılmaz, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Faculty of Law Vice Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Veysel Görücü, academics and students.
Beginning his remarks by commemorating the late Hasan Kalyoncu, who made great efforts and contributions to the founding of Hasan Kalyoncu University but passed away before seeing its official opening, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeal Ali İrfan Yılmaz said: “In this special veteran city of beautiful Anatolia, for which thousands of martyrs gave their lives, where songs of love are sung, where the sound of the call to prayer rises from its minarets, where the red flag waves in its skies, where the spirituality of Mevlana, Pir Sultan Abdal, Yunus Emre and Hacı Bektaş wanders in hearts, where colourful flowers bloom on its mountains and where longing and affection are woven into its kilims, I extend my thanks to our University’s Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Enver Bozkurt, and all the faculty members who contributed greatly to the organisation of the programme.”
Giving a comprehensive presentation on the establishment, role and functioning of regional courts of appeal, Chief Public Prosecutor of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeal Ali İrfan Yılmaz provided information on the structure of the courts in the judicial system, operating procedures and legal processes, and answered questions from faculty members and students.
At the end of the programme, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli presented a plaque to Chief Public Prosecutor of the Diyarbakır Regional Court of Appeal Ali İrfan Yılmaz.
