Within the scope of the “Sports-Friendly Campus” project, implemented by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) to encourage students and university staff to adopt healthy lifestyles and exercise regularly, Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) ranked 47th among 209 universities in Türkiye and 4th among 77 foundation universities, earning the title of “Sports-Friendly Campus”.
The ceremony, hosted by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, university rectors, academics and students.
The award was presented to HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan.

Evaluating the award, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said, “The title of ‘Sports-Friendly Campus’ is a concrete indicator of the student-centred approach we have adopted as a university and of our vision of promoting a culture of healthy living. We care about our students’ development not only academically but also physically and mentally. I thank all our academic and administrative staff and our students who contributed to this success. Hasan Kalyoncu University will continue to provide an educational environment strengthened by sport with determination.”
This important achievement of HKU will also be featured with the phrase “Sports-Friendly Campus” in the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) preference guide.
