Melike Türkaslan, a 3rd-year student in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), won an award with her “Jet Engine Turbine Blading” project in the “Reaching and Accessible Türkiye 2053 Inter-University Idea Competition”, held for the second time this year by the Transportation, Maritime and Communication Research Centre Directorate (UDHAM) of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
Stating that he is proud of the young engineer’s success, HKU Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hanifi Çanakcı said: “This award won by our student Melike Türkaslan is an important indicator of our university’s R&D-focused vision of education and teaching. We raise our students with a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and a sense of social responsibility. Every individual raised with this understanding will contribute to our country’s scientific and technological development. I sincerely congratulate our student, our supervisor and everyone who contributed.”

Receiving her award from Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Durmuş Ünüvar, Melike Türkaslan expressed her feelings about her success: “I dedicate this success, achieved with my jet engine project at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure’s 2nd Reaching and Accessible Türkiye 2053 Inter-University R&D Idea Competition, to all my teachers and my university. As our teacher Dr. Fahrettin Öztürk also emphasised: “The only secret of success is hard work.” Our aim is not only to be successful engineers, but also to be ethical individuals who are useful to society. I offer my endless thanks to my supervisor, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuba Demirel, who guided me throughout this process, to our Dean Prof. Dr. Hanifi Çanakcı for his valuable guidance, and to our Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, who always supports us with his visionary outlook.
