Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) took part in the NAFSA Conference and Expo, the world’s largest and most comprehensive international higher education summit, organised in the USA by the Association of International Educators.
FIRST IN-PERSON EDITION AFTER TWO YEARS
The world’s most comprehensive higher education fair was held this year in Denver, USA, under the theme “Building Our Sustainable Future”. HKU took part together with 15 universities from Türkiye under the “Study in Turkey” umbrella and held meetings on international agreements and important collaboration opportunities. The NAFSA Expo, which was held online during the pandemic, was held in person this year after a two-year break and drew great interest from visitors.
Within the framework of its internationalisation strategy, Hasan Kalyoncu University used the platforms offered by NAFSA to create new international collaboration opportunities with higher education institutions from countries including the USA, Canada, Argentina, South Korea, Japan and Spain. In this context, agreements were signed on student and academic mobility, joint degree programmes, English preparatory school and certificate programmes, and similar matters.
SUSTAINABILITY COMES TO THE FORE
HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said they are trying to offer more qualified international collaboration and education opportunities for students and researchers: “We are making intensive efforts for qualified international collaboration. At the NAFSA fair, which we attended in America and which is the world’s largest and most comprehensive higher education summit, we opened new windows by making mutual agreements with higher education institutions from many countries. As in every field, ‘sustainability’ is now coming to the fore in higher education as well. There need to be new programmes in this area. Another of our aims is to establish overseas connections in their fields for our students and researchers, and also to increase the cultural richness of our ecosystem by bringing students from different countries to our university from abroad.”

Meanwhile, it was announced that international students who wish to study at HKU can apply at “https://www.hku.edu.tr/ilanlar/application-for-international-students/” and that registrations will continue until 7 October 2022.
