Hasan Kalyoncu University’s (HKU) FireFiles Team, a continuous academic stakeholder of TEKNOFEST, regarded as the world’s largest aviation, space and technology festival, since its very first year, was awarded the “Best Commercialisation Potential” prize in the “University and Above” category at the TEKNOFEST Tourism Technologies Competition held in Antalya with its luggage tracking device project called “THY-Bul”.

The THY-Bul (Luggage Tracking Device) project, developed by the FireFlies team as a tracking device that makes baggage traceable at every stage of the journey in response to the frequent problems of lost baggage and misdirection in air travel, aims both to improve the operational processes of airlines and to make passengers’ travel experience safer and more comfortable.

HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, who congratulated the FireFlies Team on its success at TEKNOFEST 2024, said: “The fact that our students have developed such an innovative project with great potential in sectoral terms demonstrates their determination and hard work. I believe the project developed by the FireFlies Team is extremely important and promising for the civil aviation sector in terms of both technical excellence and commercialisation potential. I congratulate our students, their advisors and our administrators once again, and I wish them continued success,” he said.
