International Cooperation Is Essential for Sustainability
HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, noting that the changing structure of higher education and its internationalisation are among the issues that HKU also follows and attaches importance to, said, “The quantitative and qualitative increase in international cooperation agreements and international student mobility is among the priority goals of the higher education ecosystem. In this respect, the increase seen in recent years is remarkable. HKU, one of Türkiye’s leading foundation universities, prioritises internationalisation in line with its strategic goals and cooperates with respected universities around the world within this framework. International collaborations and projects are extremely important for the sustainability of universities. The steps taken in recent years with this vision have further increased HKU’s visibility internationally and made it an institution with which others want to cooperate internationally. In order to combat epidemics, global economic problems and similar issues, it is inevitable to increase knowledge and technology capacity through international cooperation. The sustainability of the higher education ecosystem will also be possible only with the added value created by these collaborations. HKU is a university that is always open and eager for international cooperation. In this context, we are very happy to be cooperating with Malaysia’s Universiti Teknologi MARA. The cooperation between these two institutions will set a fine example for the advancement of science and technology and the internationalisation of higher education. I thank Prof. Dr. Atilla Elçi, a faculty member of the HKU Department of Software Engineering, and İhsan Kuyumcu, Coordinator of the International Relations Office, who contributed to establishing the foundation of the cooperation, and I wish the agreement every success.”
Mohd Ilham bin Adenan, Rector of Universiti Teknologi MARA, who delivered the opening speech of the ceremony, stated that they work particularly on international technology transfer and knowledge transfer and that entrepreneurship is their priority area, and expressed his satisfaction with this cooperation with Hasan Kalyoncu University.
