Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) organised a Teachers’ Day Celebration Programme with the theme “Those Who Inspire the Future” for 24 November Teachers’ Day. The programme drew great interest and was full of enthusiasm and emotion.

The programme, held at the HKU Congress and Culture Centre under the coordination of HKU Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Latife Özaydın, was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, HKU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, as well as education administrators, faculty members, teachers and students.

MARTYRED TEACHERS COMMEMORATED

The programme began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem and continued with a video collage titled “News from Teachers Who Graduated from the Hasan Kalyoncu University Faculty of Education”. Martyred teachers, first and foremost Aybüke Yalçın, Necmettin Yılmaz and Ayşenur Alkan, were remembered with gratitude and respect.

Thanking the Faculty of Education for its efforts in training qualified teachers and its work in organising the programme, HKU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola said: “Today we are not simply celebrating a profession; we are in fact celebrating a day of sacrifice, selflessness and devotion. Teaching is not merely the transfer of knowledge; our teachers are the people who touch students’ lives, shape their way of thinking, their values and their character, and give direction to the future. On this meaningful journey, I remember with respect, gratitude and prayers our teachers who were martyred while fulfilling this sacred duty, first and foremost the founder of our Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.”

Thanking everyone who contributed on this meaningful day on which we were once again reminded of the strength and value of the teaching profession, HKU Faculty of Education Dean Prof. Dr. Latife Özaydın said: “In a world where technology is developing rapidly, the role of teachers has become even more critical. With this awareness, the Hasan Kalyoncu University Faculty of Education continues its education, research and production, having produced 1862 graduates. Today, I greet all our teachers with respect.”
