Teams from the Provincial Police Department’s Narcotics Crime Unit gave Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) students a seminar on the Narcoguide Project, developed as part of the fight against substance addiction.
The seminar, held at the HKU Cine Amphitheatre and beginning with the screening of the short film “The Substance Addiction Process”, featured Narcoguide Police Officer İsmet Uzkar, who gave detailed information on substance addiction, the characteristics of addicted people, the consequences of using addictive substances and the legal procedures.
The “UYUMA” Application Against Narcotics
Emphasising that citizens have important duties in the fight against narcotics, İsmet Uzkar said, “Substances that, when taken in a certain amount, disrupt the sociological, physiological and economic order of both the individual and society, harm health by affecting brain cells, and whose sale and production are prohibited are called ‘narcotics’. In order to prevent the sale and use of the narcotic substances we have defined and to raise awareness, the UYUMA (Mobile Application for the Fight Against Narcotics) app was developed. All our citizens can download this app to their mobile phones and support the fight against narcotics through the app.”
GREAT INTEREST FROM STUDENTS
The seminar, in which students showed great interest as part of social responsibility projects, ended after a question-and-answer session.
