Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli published a message on the occasion of the “18 March Çanakkale Victory”.
Türkay Dereli included the following statements in his message:
“Çanakkale is the work of hundreds of thousands of heroes who, in a way rarely seen in history, were prepared to sacrifice their lives without blinking for the survival of the homeland and the nation. Çanakkale is the place where our determination regarding our independence and our future, which has left its mark on every moment of our history, was once again confirmed with great sacrifices. Çanakkale is the day a nation with a history full of glorious victories awoke from its centuries-long slumber. Çanakkale is the name of the land where a country was reborn from its ashes and monumentalised the spirit of unity and solidarity. As Hasan Kalyoncu University, drawing inspiration and strength from the legacy left to us by our ancestors who made the world say ‘Çanakkale Shall Not Be Passed’, we will continue to strive to raise our country above the level of contemporary civilisations. On this occasion, beginning with Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms and our Çanakkale martyrs, we commemorate with respect and gratitude all our martyrs who sacrificed their lives without blinking to ensure the indivisible integrity of the homeland and the peace and security of our nation.”
