“The Bond Our Young People Build with Art Is a Source of Pride”
HKÜ Acting Rector Prof. Dr Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan stated that the performance, held as part of the 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day events, was valuable in terms of the relationship young people establish with art.
“19 May is a highly meaningful day that symbolises the energy, productivity and belief in the future of young people. As part of the events marking this significant day, it is also a source of great pride for us that our students have interpreted a universal writer such as Shakespeare on the theatre stage. This production, which brings the conflicts, questioning and psychological depth of human nature to the stage through Hamlet, Macbeth and Othello, has demonstrated that our young people possess strong potential not only academically, but also in culture, art and expressive skills. I congratulate the Oyunlarla Yaşayanlar Theatre Society and all our students who contributed to the performance,” she said.
Based on William Shakespeare’s works Hamlet, Macbeth and Othello, the stage performance brought the inner worlds of tragic heroes and the contradictions of human nature to the audience through a thematic narrative.
