A “Strategic Research and Performance Analysis Seminar”, organised to raise awareness of measuring academic performance and strategic research management at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), was held with strong participation.
The seminar, held at the HKU Cine Amphitheatre, was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, HKU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Dr. Hasan Selçuk Selek, Deputy Head of the Technology and Innovation Support Programmes Directorate (TEYDEB) of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK), HKU Scientific Publication Evaluation Commission Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Aracı, faculty deans, academics and administrative staff.
Giving the opening speech of the seminar, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said, “As Hasan Kalyoncu University, we are increasing our research capacity every year and managing our academic performance strategically. The work we carry out in this context has begun to move our University to the top of national and international indices. Indeed, the increase in TÜBİTAK-supported projects and the visibility of our publications in international citation indices are concrete indicators of this success. We believe we will take this success even further by making effective use of advanced analysis tools such as SciVal.”
HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli also emphasised that, according to the results of the 2024 Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index announced by TÜBİTAK, Hasan Kalyoncu University achieved an important success by ranking 28th among all universities in Türkiye and 8th among foundation universities. He thanked those who contributed to this success: Vice Rector for R&D Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Aracı, Innovation and Technology Transfer Office Director Cengiz Helvacıkara, Project Specialist Lect. Turgut Songur, and all academics.
HKU Scientific Publication Evaluation Commission Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Aracı stated that Hasan Kalyoncu University attaches great importance to such training in order to increase its scientific productivity and manage its research performance more efficiently. Emphasising that tools such as SciVal make strategic contributions to academic development, Aracı said that such activities will continue.
Within the scope of the seminar, Saide Sak, Elsevier Türkiye Education Consultant, provided comprehensive training on SciVal, an international academic performance measurement tool. The training covered how SciVal data can be used in evaluating research outputs, analysing collaborations, increasing the University’s scientific visibility and strategic planning.
