At Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), a seminar titled “Technology and Competitive Advantage: Strategies for the Professions of the Future” was held with strong attendance at the Law Amphitheatre. It was organised by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences, in cooperation with the Industry on Campus Programme, launched under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology to help train young people who will steer the National Technology Move, and with Air Electronics Industry (HAVELSAN), and aimed to evaluate developments in the professions of the future and in technology and to raise students’ level of knowledge.

The seminar, with HAVELSAN Strategy Team Manager Dr. Erol Yücel as speaker, was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hanifi Çanakçı, Dean of the Faculty of Aviation and Space Sciences Prof. Dr. Fatih Hasoğlu, academic staff and students.

Stating that being ready for the future and gaining a competitive advantage through technology are essential for success in today’s business world, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said: “As Hasan Kalyoncu University, we are working with all our strength to train talented, entrepreneurial and innovative experts who can shape the future, and to contribute to the strengthening of our country in every field by bringing them to the sector. We encourage research and innovation, and we equip our students with the competencies they need in their fields. In this process we try to go beyond cooperation with the relevant sectors and work hand in hand with them. The ‘Industry on Campus’ programme is one of the best examples of this. Today, we are together with HAVELSAN within the scope of the programme. We thank them for their support and participation.”

Beginning his speech by giving information about HAVELSAN and the ‘Industry on Campus’ programme, HAVELSAN Strategy Team Manager Dr. Erol Yücel said: “Technology is advancing rapidly, but the priority is always qualified human resources. Qualified people gain a competitive advantage by developing technology. It is important for you, too, to use technology in a way that increases your own competitiveness. You need to keep improving yourselves continuously. The most important thing to do in order to gain a competitive advantage is to develop meaningful differences and deliver them quickly.” He informed the students about the importance of the concepts of technology and competitive advantage, how future professions may take shape and what the appropriate strategies might be.

Within the framework of the “HAVELSAN on Campus for Your Future” programme, the “Strategic Self: Individual Transformation for the Leaders of the Future” mentoring groups, to be held on the HKU campus on 21-22 March 2024, will continue to meet with students.
