A seminar titled “Communication on Campus” was given by Personal Development and Communication Specialist Fatih Akbaba to students who were placed at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) this year.
In the seminar held at the HKU Congress and Culture Centre, Fatih Akbaba provided information on effective communication and shared real-life experiences, and at the end of the seminar also emphasised the importance of strengthening family ties.
“COMMUNICATION IS THE ART OF FINDING OURSELVES IN THE PERSON IN FRONT OF US”
Explaining the secrets of effective communication in his seminar, Fatih Akbaba said: “Wherever and however it takes place, education is a process that continues throughout life. Learning is a living act that can come from anyone and anything. We all have a lot to learn from one another. I learn a lot from your posture, your gaze, the way you sit. Communication is sometimes hearing, sometimes seeing, and sometimes touching. Communication is the art of finding ourselves in the person in front of us. The shortest definition of communication is a person conveying information to others in an understandable way. Do not lose the people you meet and say ‘hello’ to. Because you are not even aware right now of who you are sitting next to. Rather than the aimless interactions of people, communication is the conscious transfer of information from one person to another, aimed at creating an effect or being the reason for a behaviour.”
Attracting the students’ attention with examples that sometimes made them laugh and sometimes made them think, Fatih Akbaba stated at the end of his seminar that communication begins in the family and that family ties must therefore be strengthened.
After the seminar, Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli presented Communication Specialist Fatih Akbaba with a sapling planting certificate in appreciation of his contributions.
