Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) organised a TÜBİTAK Support Programmes Information Seminar to introduce the programmes supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and to contribute to the successful execution of projects in scientific and technological fields.
The programme was held at the Cine Amphitheatre, hosted by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli. The speakers were Prof. Dr. Nurper Güz, Deputy Head of the Research Support Programmes Directorate (ARDEB) of TÜBİTAK, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasan Selçuk Selek, Deputy Head of the Technology and Innovation Support Programmes Directorate (TEYDEB). It was attended by TÜBİTAK TEYDEB Head Mehmet Aslan, TÜBİTAK ARDEB Support Programmes Monitoring and Coordination Director Mürüvvet Kübra Gürbüz, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola and Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, faculty members and students.
Speaking at the opening of the programme, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli said: “As you know, while we were carrying out activities in our region to heal the wounds following the earthquakes exactly one year ago today, TÜBİTAK also contributed to reducing the effects of these disasters by opening special earthquake calls for both researchers and SMEs. Although there were partial pauses in project preparation and implementation in our region in the first half of 2023 because of the earthquakes, thanks to TÜBİTAK’s encouragement and the efforts of our academics and staff, the second half of 2023 was highly productive for Hasan Kalyoncu University. In this context, our academics submitted a total of 33 project applications to ARDEB 1001 ÇABA, one of the special earthquake calls; 5 of them were accepted and have started implementation, while 26 projects are under evaluation. As for the TEKNOÇABA programme run by TEYDEB, 4 projects were submitted through collaboration between our university’s academics and SMEs in our region; 3 of them were granted support and 1 project is under evaluation. In line with TÜBİTAK’s goal of having more projects prepared and implemented from our region, industry visits by our academics and experts are continuing, and new projects are being prepared in collaboration with industrial firms. As of the end of 2023, a total of 12 TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1001 and 1002 projects are being carried out at our University, and considering those awaiting evaluation, we expect this number to rise even further.”
TÜBİTAK TEYDEB Head Mehmet Aslan said, “As TÜBİTAK, we are trying to do everything we can. Especially during and after the earthquake, we have striven as an institution to stay in one-to-one contact with both our industrialists and our researchers.”
ARDEB Deputy Head Prof. Dr. Nurper Güz and TEYDEB Deputy Head Asst. Prof. Dr. Hasan Selçuk Selek gave participants detailed information at the seminar on topics such as Technology and Innovation Support Programmes, Support Programmes for the Private Sector, Industrial R&D Projects Support Programmes, TÜBİTAK project application processes and application criteria, key strategies for successful project management, the criteria TÜBİTAK uses when evaluating projects, the funding opportunities available for R&D projects and University-Industry Collaboration, and ensuring sustainability and innovation through TÜBİTAK support.
