At the seminar titled “From the Roots to the Future: The Türkiye Century Maarif Model”, organised by the Faculty of Education of Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) and addressing the deep-rooted accumulation of knowledge in education from the past to the present together with a vision for the future, Gaziantep Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Erdal Kılınç shared his knowledge and experience with students.
The seminar, held at the HKU Law Amphitheatre, was attended by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, HKU Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, HKU Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Latife Özaydın, academics and students.
HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, who spoke at the opening of the seminar, said: “As Hasan Kalyoncu University, we carry the responsibility of training the teachers of the future through our Faculty of Education with great honour and awareness. Our fundamental goal is to improve the quality of education and to ensure that individuals are raised not only academically but also with a sense of ethical and social responsibility. In teacher training processes, instead of focusing solely on the transfer of knowledge, we aim to develop our students’ critical thinking skills, to encourage research and innovation, and to raise them as individuals who benefit society. Our Faculty of Education is also working with all its strength so that its students are equipped to put this model into practice successfully when they graduate.”
HKU Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Latife Özaydın said: “As the Faculty of Education, while training the teachers of the future, we adopt a comprehensive framework that blends national and international educational approaches. We strive meticulously to contribute to the future of our education system by training qualified and well-equipped teachers.”
At the seminar, Dr. Erdal Kılınç, who discussed the importance of the Türkiye Century Maarif Model in education and the processes of its implementation, emphasised the need for fundamental changes and innovative approaches in education and shared his experiences with the students. Noting that education is not limited to academic success alone, Dr. Kılınç stated that national and spiritual values are also of great importance in this process.
At the end of the seminar, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli and HKU Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Latife Özaydın presented a plaque and a certificate of appreciation to Gaziantep Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Erdal Kılınç.
