Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) is hosting those who aim to develop a game within 48 hours as part of the Türkiye Game Development Championship, organised simultaneously in many centres across the country by The Game Circle. Applications for the Championship end on 20 May, and it will have 3 stages. The first stage is an online Game Jam, while the second and third stages consist of Game Jams held in person. At the end of the Türkiye Final, the winners will be admitted to an acceleration programme.
THERE WILL BE COMPETITIONS ACROSS TÜRKİYE!
With Hasan Kalyoncu University and OSB Teknokent on its organising committee, the Championship is the first nationwide competition in mobile game development supported by Google Developers and METU Gates.
THE FIRST STAGE OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS ON 28-29 MAY
The Championship consists of original-format online and face-to-face “competitions” and “acceleration” steps, in which training and mentoring services will be provided for successful participants. The first stage of the Championship will begin with the online Game Jam on 28-29 May. Participants who succeed at this stage will take part in regional semi-finals to be held in Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Gaziantep, Samsun and Elazığ. In the face-to-face regional semi-finals, participants will show their skills within 48 hours without sleeping. The participants who qualify from each region for the final will come together for the Türkiye final on 24-25 July. At the end of this long marathon, the top-ranking participants will move on to the second stage.
THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 20 MAY
In the “acceleration” stage, the top-ranking participants will be given training and mentoring services for about 3 months and prepared to meet the sector’s leading publishers and investors. By putting into practice the process of turning a game idea into an investment, the Türkiye Game Development Championship aims to realise game developers’ greatest dream.
The Türkiye Game Development Championship will bring new talent into the digital game ecosystem, enable successful game studios to be founded, and enable Türkiye to export more games to the global game market.
The championship is open to participation as a team or individually, and applications will continue until 20 May. Applications for the Türkiye Game Development Championship can be made at www.thegamecircle.com.
