Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU), in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Aerospace Sciences, organized a conference titled ‘Engineering Education in the Century of Turkey.’ Hosted by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, the conference featured Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Öztürk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TUSAŞ Motor Sanayi (TEI), as the keynote speaker, providing valuable insights for future engineering candidates on shaping their careers.
The conference, held at the HKU Engineering Auditorium, attracted significant interest from engineering candidates and students of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Program. Among the attendees were HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola and Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, HKU Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Hanifi Çanakçı, Faculty of Aerospace Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Fatih Hasoğlu, HKU Board Member Prof. Dr. Necip Fazıl Yılmaz, and General Secretary Ümit Şahnaoğlu, along with academicians.
In his opening speech, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli expressed great excitement about the successful first flight of KAAN, Turkey’s national combat aircraft produced by TUSAŞ, emphasizing the significance of this achievement as an example for all. He highlighted the importance of ambitious goals and collaboration, stating that HKU is committed to nurturing competent individuals who can play a leading role in Turkey’s national technological advancement.
Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Öztürk, starting his address by underscoring the importance of well-educated human resources provided by universities and summarizing TUSAŞ’s aerospace efforts, emphasized the necessity for individuals to aim high and work diligently towards their goals. He emphasized the importance of teamwork, innovation, and entrepreneurship in engineering, stressing the need for interdisciplinary collaboration and a culture of working together to achieve success.
The program concluded with a mutual plaque presentation ceremony, followed by a visit of Prof. Dr. Fahrettin Öztürk and his delegation to the office of HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli.
