HKÜ Family Gathered at the Traditional Iftar Program

To celebrate the spirit of unity and the blessings of Ramadan, the Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKÜ) family came together for the traditional iftar program. Held at the university’s Central Cafeteria, the event was attended by HKÜ Board of Trustees Chairman Haluk Kalyoncu, HKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, Toros University Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Arıöz, Gaziantep Metropolitan Mayor Fatma Şahin, Şahinbey Mayor Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, Oğuzeli District Governor Mikail Ersöz, Board of Trustees members, academic and administrative staff, and students.

Speaking at the event, HKÜ Board of Trustees Chairman Haluk Kalyoncu stated:
“Founded in 2008 in Gaziantep as a testament to our gratitude to this city, Hasan Kalyoncu University values the spiritual and social significance of Ramadan. We take great joy in upholding this cherished tradition that brings us together. Our university, which has achieved an A+ rating in the ‘Campus and Life Satisfaction’ category by fully meeting student expectations, ranked 8th among 200 universities in the 2024 Turkish University Satisfaction Survey, 3rd among 74 foundation universities, and stands among the top foundation universities with the highest scholarship rate at 57%. Additionally, we ranked 3rd in Student Satisfaction, 4th in the GreenMetric Green Campus Ranking, 4th in the SCIMAGO Research Index, 6th in Patent Commercialization, and 8th in the TÜBİTAK Entrepreneurship and Innovation Index. With nearly 8,500 students and 17,836 alumni, we are a large academic family. Our university is committed to raising individuals who make a difference with their academic knowledge and professional skills, uphold national values, embrace ethical principles, and contribute to shaping Turkey’s future.”

HKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli added:
“As Hasan Kalyoncu University, we deeply cherish the sacred atmosphere of Ramadan, a time of solidarity, sharing, brotherhood, and generosity. Sharing our iftar meal together reminds us once again of the importance of unity, love, and respect. With this spirit, we are delighted to come together once again for our traditional iftar dinner, an annual gathering to embrace the blessings of Ramadan.”

At the end of the event, awards were presented to outstanding and active student communities, including the Psychology Club, Green Crescent Club, Software Club, Music Club, and Digital Game Design Club, as well as the winner of the Cyber Hackathon competition.
