In the event held online via ZOOM video conference, Fırat University Technology Faculty Mechanical Engineering Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Hakan Fehmi Öztop took part. The moderator of the webinar was Prof. HKU Engineering Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hanifi Çanakçı and organized the meeting with the aim of developing and implementing more TUBITAK projects within HKU. In the webinar where intense participation was observed, Öztop spoke about correct project writing strategies and tricks.
“The aim is to transform our idea into a product”
With referring to his book “Can I start from the Question I Want?” Prof. Dr. Öztop explained why project support should be applied. Expressing that producing a project makes significant contributions to the careers of researchers, Öztop underlined that it would be beneficial to produce products that can be used in industry.
As the founder of a famous online food ordering company said; “An entrepreneur should not spend money from his own pocket, he should find a fund. The way to find this fund is to write a project” and emphasized the necessity of writing projects. Öztop stated that one of the main reasons for writing projects is to “transform the idea into a product” and stated that the projects that can make a difference are accepted and the content of the subject should be original.
“Get out of your comfort zone”
Underlining that the project process is difficult, Öztop gave the message to researchers to get out of your comfort zone. By giving technical information about project writing, he emphasized the importance of not avoiding cooperation, ensuring continuity, being determined, patient, willing, evaluating opportunities and following the literature regularly for project continuity.
Answering the questions at the end of the webinar “Project Preparation and Execution Strategies for TUBITAK” with intense participation, Prof. Dr. Hakan Fehmi Öztop shared with the participants how the project presentation should be and the ideal project preparation process.
