
HKU, which mobilized technology-oriented entrepreneurship in the region with “Hackathons” on various issues, stated that it now aims to commercialize students, academics, SMEs and other stakeholders with the “Smart Campus” themed “Ideathon”.
The opening speeches of Ideathon, which started in the early hours, were made by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Edibe Sözen and HKU Engineering Faculty Lecturer Prof. Dr. Veysi İşler. In the panel moderated by Edibe Sözen, Prof. Dr. Çağrı Güngör connected to the program via Skype and talked about smart urbanism and smart campus initiatives. Samsung R&D Director Özcan Özay, Cisco Türkwoman Sales Manager Yalçın Yıldırım and Turkcell Smart Education Production Manager Ömer Özden made presentations on digital transformation and smart technologies. At the end of the panel, all speakers were presented with plaques.
ENTREPRENEURS DEVELOP IDEAS FOR SMART CAMPUS
In the afternoon session of the program, the participants, within the scope of the smart campus goal of the university; Students developed ideas for technology-based solutions that will facilitate all processes involving stakeholders such as Student-Management-Academician-Industry-Society or to solve existing problems. Participants who are willing to work as a team and have different abilities and skills can work in teams and be implemented in the Hasan Kalyoncu University Smart Campus Project; artificial intelligence, internet of things, big data, virtual / augmented reality, blockchain, etc. It has produced projects in which new and emerging technologies can also take place.
SUCCESSFUL PROJECTS AWARDED
The entrepreneurs working in groups with the Smart Campus theme presented their new ideas and projects to the jury. At Ideathon, which has participants from different cities, the top three successful projects were awarded.
It was stated that different support mechanisms (training, mentoring, prototyping, etc.) could be put into use by HKU in order to realize the project proposals emerging in Ideathon.
