Hosted by Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) and organized by the HKU Developer Student Clubs (DSC), the “Web Hackathon” took place over the weekend with a high level of participation. The 48-hour non-stop marathon brought together 80 software developers. The event, featuring projects under the theme “Easy Life,” began on Friday, December 27, at 4:00 PM following a four-day training program. It continued as a 48-hour marathon with 13 teams participating and concluded on Sunday, December 29, at 4:00 PM with a closing and award ceremony.
In his speech at the award ceremony, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli stated:
“At the end of the year and right before finals, this event, conducted with great enthusiasm and participation, gives us all renewed hope for the future. Thank you for your interest and efforts. At Hasan Kalyoncu University, we place great importance on software and technology development, innovation, and the growth of young talents. Through events like these, we enable our students to showcase their innovative ideas and projects. Additionally, we aim to support young developers and designers while helping them enhance their skills. The ‘Web Hackathon’ is invaluable for fostering teamwork, a critical part of the software development world, and for developing technological solutions. We will continue to support you. I extend my gratitude to all our students, academic staff, student organizations, mentors, jury members, stakeholders, sponsors, and all participants for their contributions. Congratulations to the teams that achieved success.”
Following the speeches, the jury announced the winning teams. The first-place title was shared by the SDC and RDR teams, while the second-place award went to JS Team, and the third-place award to Safe Web. The plaques were presented to the winning teams by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli.
