The Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKÜ) organized a symposium titled “Intercultural Interaction in Nursing; Opportunities for Cooperation and Education.” The event aimed to enhance intercultural interaction in nursing, explore opportunities for cooperation, and develop innovative approaches in education.
The symposium was held at the HKÜ Cine Amphi, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ayla Yava, Head of the Department of Nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences. The opening ceremony was attended by HKÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Kezban Bayramlar, faculty members, and graduate students.
In her opening speech, Symposium Chair Prof. Dr. Ayla Yava stated, “Such events provide unique environments where colleagues gathered around the same goal share knowledge, experiences, and ideas, discuss new information and practices, and develop plans for future growth and actions. I believe this symposium will allow us to share our international professional experiences and perspectives, exchange cultural experiences in nursing education and care, form sincere friendships, and develop new collaborations and joint projects in the field of nursing.”
Dean Prof. Dr. Kezban Bayramlar also expressed her gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Ayla Yava and all the academics involved in organizing this symposium. It will be a wonderful event both in terms of content and outcomes. I also extend my thanks to our Rector, Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, and our Board of Trustees for their unwavering support.”
The symposium featured expert speakers aiming to contribute to professional development in nursing. Presentations included “Management of Diabetes and Obesity and Diabetes Nursing in Turkey” by HKÜ Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department faculty member Prof. Dr. Nermin Olgun, “Development of the Transcultural Nursing Curriculum and Our Experiences” by Hacettepe University Nursing Department faculty member Assoc. Dr. Betül Tosun, and “Nursing in Slovakia and at Pavol Jozef Safarik University” by faculty members Prof. Dr. Lucia Dimunová and Dr. Beáta Gress Halász from Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Slovakia. HKÜ graduate students Gülsen Karataş and Merve Pişkin also shared their research presentations with the participants.
