Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) organized a TÜBİTAK Grants Information Seminar with the aim of introducing TÜBİTAK-supported programs and contributing to the successful implementation of scientific and technological projects.
Hosted by HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli at Cine Auditorium, the seminar featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Nurper Güz, Deputy Head of the Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB), and Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Hasan Selçuk Selek, Deputy Head of the Technology and Innovation Support Programs Directorate (TEYDEB) within TÜBİTAK. The seminar was attended by Mehmet Aslan, President of TÜBİTAK TEYDEB, Mürüvvet Kübra Gürbüz, Director of ARDEB Support Programs Monitoring and Coordination, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola and Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan, faculty members, and students.
In his opening speech, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli stated: “As you know, exactly one year ago today, the earthquakes caused deep wounds in our hearts and left their mark. However, the support and solidarity spirit that emerged during this difficult time strengthened us all, reinforced our unity and solidarity in healing the wounds. Hasan Kalyoncu University, along with TÜBİTAK, opened special calls for both researchers and SMEs to contribute to reducing the impact of these disasters. Despite partial disruptions in project preparation and implementation processes in the first half of 2023 due to the earthquakes in our region, the encouragement from TÜBİTAK and the efforts of our academics and staff made the second half of 2023 quite productive for Hasan Kalyoncu University. In this context, our academics made a total of 33 project applications for ARDEB 1001 EFFORT specifically dedicated to earthquake special calls, of which 5 were accepted and implemented, and 26 projects are currently in the evaluation stage. For the TEYDEB-led TECHNO EFFORT program, our university academics and SMEs in our region jointly submitted 4 projects, 3 of which were granted support, and 1 project is in the evaluation stage. With the goal of preparing and implementing more projects from our region, our academics and experts continue their industry visits, and new projects are being prepared in cooperation with industrial companies. As of the end of 2023, a total of 12 TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1001 and 1002 projects are being implemented at our university, and considering those under evaluation, we expect this number to increase further.”
TÜBİTAK TEYDEB President Mehmet Aslan said, “As TÜBİTAK, we are trying to do our best. Especially during and after the earthquakes, we strive to maintain direct relationships with both our industrialists and researchers.”
During the seminar, ARDEB Deputy Head Prof. Dr. Nurper Güz and TEYDEB Deputy Head Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Hasan Selçuk Selek provided detailed information to participants on various topics, including Technology and Innovation Support Programs, Support Programs for the Private Sector, Industry R&D Projects Support Programs, TÜBİTAK project application processes and criteria, basic strategies for successful project management, criteria used by TÜBİTAK in evaluating projects, financial opportunities provided for R&D projects and University-Industry Collaboration, and ensuring sustainability and innovation with TÜBİTAK support.
