
The ‘Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: Gaziantep’ Congress, organized by the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation of Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) Faculty of Health Sciences, was held at the HKU Culture and Convention Center with a nature-friendly approach, featuring the participation of expert scientists in the field.
The congress aimed to provide a rich platform for knowledge sharing with expert speakers, covering a wide perspective on Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. Among the attendees were Prof. Dr. Kezban Bayramlar, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Yakut, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serkan Usgu, Head of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department, along with 18 expert speakers, clinicians, and students from the medical and physiotherapy fields.
In his opening speech, Congress President and Head of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Yakut, expressed the intention to initiate a tradition with this year’s congress. He emphasized the goal of establishing a mobile congress regularly to bring together scholars who have contributed to the field of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, discuss developments, and share experiences.
Prof. Dr. Kezban Bayramlar, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, expressed excitement about organizing the first congress with an environmentally friendly approach. She emphasized the significance of the congress in creating awareness and promoting scientific content within the university, faculty, and department.
During the congress, details of registration and the scientific program were shared digitally with the participants. Various topics related to Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis were discussed, including surgical interventions, cardiovascular issues, orthopedic surgery, early orthotic treatment, different physiotherapy practices, proprioceptive training, the vestibular system, pain and quality of life, qualitative success of treatment, school screenings, family education, sports, and 20 different oral presentations, covering a wide range of topics.
