At HKU, the Psychological Dimensions of Oppression in Palestine Were Discussed

A panel titled ‘Being Human: We Speak for Palestine’ was organized by the Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences (FEASS) at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) to raise awareness about the psychological dimensions of the inhumane attacks and oppression carried out by Israel in Palestine.

The panel featured speeches by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Dinç, the Head of the Department of Psychology, and academics from the Department of Psychology, as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Keser, the Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at FEASS. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola, Vice Rector of HKU, Prof. Dr. Şener Büyüköztürk, Dean of the Faculty of Education, students, and other faculty members.

Expressing gratitude to FEASS, panelists, and participants for their interest and support, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Lütfi Yola emphasized the significance and impact of such events in creating a global reaction against human rights violations in Palestine, expressing hope for the swift end of this inhumane oppression.

During the panel, various topics were discussed, including the international legal evaluation of Israel’s attack on Palestine, ethical stance towards Palestine, coping with trauma in the context of Palestine, resistance against injustice, and the power of boycott as a response to oppression. The presentations highlighted the urgent need for more effective actions from the international community to end the ongoing tragedy and reduce the psychological impact of Israel’s inhumane attacks and oppression in Palestine.
