Cinegoers Came Together in “Golden Baklava”

“2nd Golden Baklava Film Festival Award Ceremony and Premiere Night” was held in Hasan Kalyoncu University. The ones ranking the highest in “Golden Baklava Film Festival” which was made in HKU were given their rewards.
The films in the categories of “Fiction” and “Documentary” made by university students who took part in the competion around Turkey were awarded by Prof. Dr. Tamer Yılmaz,Rector, Hüseyin Avni,actor,Aytekin Çakmakçı, head cameraman, Prof. Dr. Dilek Takımcı, documentary film director and screen writer, Ertuğrul Karslıoğlu, director, Nesibe Bat, National Geographic chief editor. Prof. Dr. Edibe Sözen was the chairman of the jury in this film academy.
In the festival held in Congress and Culture Centre, Prof.Dr. Tamer Yılmaz, Rector, stated that their aim was to traditionalise the festival, which they held for the second time. Mr. Yılmaz focusing that a university’s standard of development cannot be limited just by one field stated that in this respect HKU took firm steps forward.
Mr. Yılmaz pointed out that the most important thing of our efforts in this respect was “Visual Communication Design” department and added, “As a university, we put our signature under more quality and important works with together our new departments and contribute much on culture and art life of Gaziantep with the jobs we did. We aim at introducing creative names with cinema industry and contribute to artistic sensitivity of our students in HKU.
Prof. Dr. Edibe Sözen, academic member of HKU and chairman of the jury, said “We provide important contributions with the jobs we achieved to culture and art life of Gaziantep. We aim introducing achievers with cinema sector in our country, offering a field to our university students to display their skills and contributing their artistic susceptibility.”
Despite its second year, in the festival, which was applied by a lot of films, the films got to the finals in the categories of 8 documentaries and 8 fictions out from the 16 finalists were evaluated by the juries. At the night of the films’ competing in two categories, 8 films were granted an award.
In the category of documentary, “Kar Tutan çocuklar”(İstanbul University) directed by Mustafa Koçoğlu was awarded as the best documentary. “Vefa” (Ege University) directed by Baran Vardar and “Kuş Sarayları” (Yeni Yüzyıl University) by Bedirhan Dökmenoğlu were awarded as second best and third best documentaries respectively. “Ali Çavuş”(Atatürk University) directed by Koray Söğütbakırcı was given  a honourable mention.
In the category of fiction, “Gül Ali” (9 Eylül University) directed by Gökhan Altuntaş was awarded as the best fictional film.“Hasat Zamanı” (İstanbul University) directed by Turan Haste and “Adem Başaran” (Marmara University) by Orhan İnce were awarded as second best and third best fictional films respectively. “Bab-ı Dem” (Hasan Kalyoncu University) filmed by Enes Polat was given an honourable mention.
Baklava, a brand in Gaziantep, became as an important art and cultural brand with the awards of “2nd Baklava Film Rewards in HKU”. The festival organized for the second time and expected to be held every year arouse a big interest.
