Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) has reached a significant milestone in its internationalization strategy, becoming the first higher education institution from Türkiye to be admitted to the Federation for European Education (FEDE).
Through its FEDE membership — a respected Europe-based academic network — HKU aims to build stronger partnerships with higher education institutions across Europe and other regions, lead joint academic projects, and play an active role in international initiatives.
“We Aim to Further Increase Our University’s Global Visibility”
Underlining that FEDE membership represents a strategic step for the university, HKU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Rengin Küçükerdoğan said: “Becoming the first higher education institution from Türkiye to be accepted into the Federation for European Education is a strong indication of our university’s internationalization vision. Alongside this, our partnership with Coursera is broadening our students’ access to globally recognized programs and reinforcing our digital transformation in education. We continue to back our international expansion with concrete steps. As part of this, professional internship opportunities will be offered to 25 of our students in four different cities — Berlin, London, Dublin, and Barcelona — and the relevant agreements have already been finalized. Furthermore, with the representative offices we plan to open in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, we aim to further expand our university’s international academic and institutional reach. With FEDE membership, we will continue to create new collaborations and academic opportunities for our students and faculty, and to grow our university’s global visibility.”
Placing quality assurance, innovative teaching methods, and international academic engagement at the heart of its mission, HKU — alongside the work to be carried out under FEDE — also offers its students access to globally recognized certificate and micro-credential programs through its earlier partnership with Coursera, advancing its goals of internationalization and digital transformation.
