Emphasizing the significance of sustainability as a vital element of HKÜ’s vision, Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, the Rector of HKÜ, stated, “Our university, recognized as one of the world’s top 300 green campuses by GreenMetric, meets approximately 70% of its energy needs from our own renewable energy sources. In recent times, we have created sustainable social areas on our campus, planted nearly ten thousand new saplings, expanded and renewed our bike paths, and implemented projects related to the collection and recycling of rainwater. The Zero Waste Certificate once again demonstrates HKÜ’s commitment to the environment and sustainability. With the responsibility of obtaining the Zero Waste Certificate, we will continue to work together with all our strength to advance our eco-friendly practices even further.”
The Zero Waste Management System involves a 7-step roadmap that companies, institutions, and organizations must follow. The system promotes sustainable production and consumption habits, prevents waste, reduces waste volume, and ensures the reuse and recycling of materials.
