HKU Students’ Project Wins the “Best Commercialization Potential” Award at TEKNOFEST!

Hasan Kalyoncu University’s (HKU) FireFiles Team won the “Best Commercialization Potential” award in the “University and Above” category at the TEKNOFEST Tourism Technologies Competition, held in Antalya, with their suitcase tracking device project called “THY-Bul.” TEKNOFEST, recognized as the world’s largest aviation, space, and technology festival, has had HKU as a continuous academic partner since its inception.

The FireFiles team developed the THY-Bul (Suitcase Tracking Device) project to address the frequent issues of lost or misdirected luggage during air travel. The device ensures that baggage can be tracked at every stage of the journey, aiming to improve operational processes for airlines while enhancing the safety and comfort of passengers’ travel experiences.

Congratulating the FireFiles Team for their success at TEKNOFEST 2024, HKU Rector Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli stated: “Our students’ development of such an innovative project with significant sectoral potential demonstrates their determination and hard work. I believe the FireFiles Team’s project holds immense promise for both technical excellence and commercialization potential within the civil aviation industry. I congratulate our students, their advisors, and managers once again and wish them continued success.”
