In the Psychology Agenda, the Psychological Effects of Disasters on Children Were Discussed.

“This year, the 22nd edition of the ‘Psychology Agenda,’ organized by the Department of Psychology of Hasan Kalyoncu University’s Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences, was held with the theme ‘Disasters and Children.’ The event, which took place with the participation of psychologists, guidance counselors, and psychological consultants from Gaziantep and surrounding provinces, as well as HKU students.

The Psychology Agenda, held in the HKU Law Amphitheater and focusing on the main theme of ‘Disasters and Children,’ featured speakers including Deputy President and Clinical Psychologist Merve Özdenler from the Earth Children Foundation, Psychologist Beyza Alkaya, also from the Earth Children Foundation, and Psychological Consultant Başak Demirci, Psychological Consultant Müge Selin Tutlu from the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Family Academy, Psychologist Zehra Kobu from the Trauma and Disaster Mental Health Studies Association, and Psychologist Feyza Karakaş, a Graduate Student in Clinical Psychology at HKU.

During the Psychology Agenda-22 program, which discussed the emotional and psychological effects experienced by children in the face of disasters, Merve Özdenler spoke about ‘Education and Psychosocial Support Activities in Crisis Zones – The YEÇED Approach,’ Başak Demirci addressed ‘Working with Children Affected by War and Migration,’ Müge Selin Tutlu presented ‘Studies for Children Affected by Earthquakes,’ Feyza Karakaş discussed ‘Studies for Children Affected by Earthquakes – The Example of Umut Yuvası,’ Zehra Kobu focused on ‘Psychosocial Support Activities for Parents of Children Exposed to Earthquakes,’ and Beyza Alkaya provided recommendations and outputs for school counselors in trauma-focused interventions titled ‘Recommendations and Outputs for School Psychological Counselors in Trauma-Focused Interventions.’”
