Hasan Kalyoncu University Women and Family Application and Research Center (KADMER) drew attention to the full participation of women in social life on December 10, Human Rights Day. Organized under the theme of “Disability and Woman”, the program “One Subject, One Guest” was moderated by Assoc. Dr. Nilay Kayhan and the guest of the program was Ayben Katırcı, an English Teacher at Gaziantep Visually Impaired Secondary School.
The guest of the program, Katırcı, touched on family education at the point of gaining a culture of living together with these differences and stated that it is a human right to access education, health and social life fully and effectively for every individual. Underlining that entrepreneurship should be supported in the participation of disabled women in business life, Ayben Katırcı emphasized the importance of the activities of educational institutions, local administrations and non-governmental organizations.
Disabled or Not Disabled All Individuals Should Be Equal
Program moderator Assoc. Dr. Kayhan made statements regarding the importance of the human rights day, emphasized the importance of pursuing non-discriminatory policies for every individual, male or female, in a participatory and rights-based community life, regardless of disability. At this point, he underlined the active and full participation of disabled women in all areas of life, their success in education, health, culture and arts, and their support for their efforts in business life. The program emphasized the importance of legal regulations, and the obstacles to the full participation of women with disabilities in the society they live in were also emphasized. The importance of regulations based on the principle of accessibility and rights-based practices in all areas of life was emphasized.
