In many cities in Turkey, HasanKalyoncu University (HKU) which has held many seminars about right career choices, test anxiety, with the motto “Education Is With You All Your Life”, added a new one for the improvement of students, and met the students in Şanlıurfa.
The seminar, which was held in two different sessions with the participation of thousands of university candidate students at Şanlıurfa Province National Education Conference Hall, attracted great attention. Rector Prof. Dr Tamer Yılmazand Assist.Prof.DrHasanEşici from the department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance Education Faculty at HKU atended the seminar.
First, Assist.Prof.DrHasanEşici started his presentation, and gave valuable information to the students about test anxiety and the dimensions of anxiety. He gave significant tips about the elements and aspects of anxiety before upcoming YGS. His statements on especially best use of their time HasanEşici said, “Time is one of the most important notions for you. If you make the best use of your time and use it effectively, you will be the ones who succeed. The moment you are in the exam is very important when time comes. Even if you do well before the exam or when you look at the questions and can do them after, it will not make sense unless you use your time effectively during the exam. It is important that you stay calm and focus on the questions. Another crucial point is that you really need to want to do a good score from this exam. If you think that you won’t be able to do this exam, it will affect you seriously, and can cause you to make mistakes no matter how well you know how to solve the questions. What you have to do is to tell yourself that you really want to score well, and you will do your best, so that you can prepare yourselves for this fight. Also do not forget that it is not the end of the world if you cannot score well. If that happens take a lesson out of it, detect your weak points. You can prepare for the exam the next year and get better results.”
The level of compatibility is more important than the job itself.
Addressing the students, HK Rector Dr. Tamer Yılmaz pointed out the importance of career choice with the following words: “Very precious youth; we are having a career meeting. You need to pay attention to some criteria. First, you must know your own character very well. Here, you will benefit from your guidance teachers, but first you have to make sure what profession and career plans will carry you to the happiness. It has always been focused on some stereotype professions. ‘Yes, these are important as well, but do we really want them? If you choose a profession, you should know that it is also very important that you match with it. I highly recommend you to make a choice about your profession before choosing a unıversity.
There are 3rd generations universities that you young people need to follow and observe.
A university can be a very well-established one, but if is not for the new generation you may not been able to given the education as wished. Now, new generation universities provide more pro-active training which involves acting in advance of a future situation, rather than just reacting. It means taking control and making things happen rather than just adjusting to a situation or waiting for something to happen.
There are three main tasks of the universities; you absolutely have to listen to them. First, education and training need to be done very well. On the other hand, many universities only care about education and ignore or do not pay attention to other points. HasanKalyoncu is your university, we may not be able to come close to you but you are always welcome. In addition, our university is very ambitious. It is the first private university in this region and we are more successful than many other universities in Istanbul “.
