
Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) Vocational School, Banking and Insurance Program, and Young Financiers Student Community organized a project competition with the aim of finding solutions to problems using marketing science instruments within the framework of the ‘United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.’
The jury of the project competition held at the HKU Law Amphitheater consisted of Dr. Asst. Prof. Sema Mercanoğlu Erin, Faculty Member of the Banking and Insurance Department of HKU, Dr. Asst. Prof. Şafak Hengirmen Tercan, Faculty Member of the Civil Engineering Department of HKU, Ersin Satı, President of the Disaster Preparedness and Earthquake Education Association (AHDER), and Elif Erkan, Project Technical Manager of RoyalCert Certification and Inspection Services Inc.
Speaking at the opening of the program, Dr. Asst. Prof. Sema Mercanoğlu Erin stated: “We are focusing on an important issue for our world. Sustainability issues persist worldwide, and someone needs to find solutions to these problems. We decided to brainstorm a bit about what we can do about sustainability related to our expertise and turn it into scientific research projects. Finding solutions to problems is everyone’s duty, and today we have gathered towards this goal.”
Dr. Asst. Prof. Şafak Hengirmen Tercan, stating that Hasan Kalyoncu University has achieved many successes in the field of sustainability, said: “Even a small step taken for sustainability can lead to a great result. Sustainability can spread to every aspect of life and can create positive effects both in your business life and in your personal life. In this regard, I thank all of you for producing projects.”
Emphasizing their importance in the field of sustainability, AHDER President Ersin Satı expressed his curiosity about the presentations prepared for this beneficial project competition, while Elif Erkan, Project Technical Manager of RoyalCert, shared the positive effects of sustainability studies on career life with students.
As part of the program, students who were ranked in the competition with their project proposals were rewarded with various gifts.
