The Huawei R&D Meeting, organized in collaboration with the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality (GBB), and the Southeast Anatolia Development Agency (İKA), took place at Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU). The event brought together academics, professionals, and students focused on information technology, innovation, technology, and R&D.

The opening speeches of the Huawei R&D Meeting were delivered by Prof. Dr. Türkay Dereli, the Rector of HKU, Fatma Şahin, the Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Burhan Akyılmaz, the General Secretary of İKA, Mustafa Ermiş, the Head of Human Resources and Training Department at BTK, and Ömer Faruk Şahin, the Chief of Cyber Security and Privacy at Huawei Turkey.

Rector Prof. Dr. Dereli emphasized the importance of technology in all aspects of life and business, stating that supporting innovation and R&D efforts is crucial. He mentioned the significance of focusing on artificial intelligence, sustainability, and green technology. The Rector expressed the university’s commitment to encouraging an innovative vision and supporting young talents striving to develop technology.

Mayor Fatma Şahin underscored the need to become a knowledge society in an era where the boundaries of information have disappeared. She emphasized the importance of managing information with intelligence and keeping up with the age of information and technology.

Dr. Burhan Akyılmaz and Mustafa Ermiş provided information about the support, education programs, and services related to information technologies and entrepreneurship provided by İKA and BTK, respectively.

Ömer Faruk Şahin, Chief of Cyber Security and Privacy at Huawei Turkey, stated that the event is highly significant in the context of cyber security and cloud computing. He expressed hope that the Huawei R&D Meeting would serve as a guiding light for the youth in Gaziantep.

The Huawei R&D Meeting offered training sessions, career discussions, interview simulations, practical training sessions in cloud computing, and Web3.0 training for students. At the end of the event, 10 Huawei Watch Fit2 smartwatches and surprise gifts were distributed through a draw.
